Add Value to your Account using VanillaDirect

So you've downloaded the Transit app and you're ready to pay for your ride? This article explains how to add value to your digital wallet by paying cash with VanillaDirect.

Note: you will need to be connected to the internet to perform the steps below.

Add value to a new Transit account

1. On the app's home screen, tap Buy:

2. Tap Pay with your mobile phone:

3. Enter your email address and follow the steps to create a Transit account.

4. Once at the payment step, tap Other payment options at the bottom of the screen:

5. Choose your fare type - you will always be able to update it later in your account's settings:

6. Make sure you select the VanillaDirect tab at the top right of the screen:

7. You will be taken to a screen displaying a barcode. Present this barcode to the personnel at the store:

Note: If the barcode won't scan, this might be because your device screen isn't large enough. Tap the barcode to enlarge it.
Also, if the barcode does not display properly, we'd suggest checking your internet connection.

8. Proceed to the payment by cash at the store directly and once everything is set, tap Done. Your purchase will then be confirmed.

9. To pay for your ride, open Transit, tap Ride now on the main screen and then scan the QR code on the bus:

Add value to an existing Transit account

1. Tap Ride now:

2. Tap Add funds:

3. Tap Add funds at store or kiosk:

4. Make sure you select the VanillaDirect tab at the top right of the screen:

5. You will be taken to a screen displaying a barcode. Present this barcode to the personnel at the counter:

Note: If the barcode won't scan, this might be because your device screen isn't large enough. Tap the barcode to enlarge it.
Also, if the barcode does not display properly, we'd suggest checking your internet connection.

6. Proceed to the payment by cash at the kiosk directly and once everything is set, tap Done. Your purchase will then be confirmed.

7. To pay for your ride, open Transit, tap Ride now on the main screen and then scan the QR code on the bus:
